And in July in Iowa it should be humid and hot enough to mimic the climate they will be used in so if they work here at that time I'll be good. I have a few months to get this done and I can try different things to see what works best. Its a blast to play as all ages really enjoy figuring out how to move the 2x4 blocks up. Our experience is not use any finish as the humid weather will make the blocks sticky and difficult to break loose. We have been doing giant jenga at family events for a couple years know. Light sanding in between coats will render a glass smooth finish, plus it dries very quickly! When you get it built up over 6 foot tall they crash down hard. I have played the "adult" version of Jenga with 4x4's. That might be slippery enough after a coat and a little sanding. I'd use Johnson wood wax.Plain 2X4's with no finish won't work, they want it stained dark. I want it to slide easily and thought maybe waxing and polishing the boards. It's going to a high temp, high humidity climate. I've been told not to polyurethane it but it will need some finish beyond stain. It will be made of 2X4's planed, edges rounded, finely sanded and stained. I am making a giant Jenga (block stacking game ).
